What we collect

There are no accounts, comments or forms on this site, and we don't set cookies or run advertising scripts.

Analytics

We use Umami, a privacy-focused analytics service, to see which pages are read and which features are used. It sets no cookies and doesn't follow you around the web. It records the page you view, where you came from, your country, and your browser and device type, plus a count each time a feature is used, such as a share button, print, favourites, the unit and pint switches, filters, sorting and clicks on our Amazon links (which link and which page), and the cookbook (when you open it and download it, how many recipes it holds, and whether photos were on, never its title or anything you typed). A visit that starts from a QR code in a cookbook is counted too. For search we only record whether a search found anything, never what you typed.

If your browser sends "Do Not Track", the analytics script does nothing. Umami explains how it handles data in its privacy policy.

The share and "Ask AI" buttons are plain links. Nothing is loaded from WhatsApp, Facebook, X, Claude, ChatGPT, Perplexity or your email app until you click one. The AI buttons send that service the address of the page and a short question, and then that service's own privacy notice applies.

Like any website, our web server and Cloudflare (which delivers the site to you) log each request: your IP address, the page requested, your browser type and the time. We use these logs in aggregate for traffic statistics and to keep the site secure.

Amazon links

The "Check price on Amazon" buttons take you to Amazon, which has its own privacy notice and cookies. To send you to the right store (amazon.ie, amazon.co.uk or amazon.com) we use the country your request appears to come from at the moment you click. We don't store it. When you click, we keep a short record for up to 90 days: which link, the page you clicked from, your country and the time. It doesn't include your IP address, and we use it only to count clicks.

Personal cookbooks

On the favourites page you can turn your saved recipes into a PDF cookbook. It is built on your own device, from recipes and pictures this site already serves, so your title, your name and your choice of recipes never leave your browser and nothing is uploaded. The QR code on each page links back to the recipe on this site.

Your browser

Your choices (UK or US units, pint size, saved favourites and your cookbook settings) are stored in your browser only and never sent to us. Clearing your browser data removes them.

Your rights

If you're in the UK or EU you can ask what personal data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it. Email [email protected]. You can also complain to your data protection regulator, such as the Data Protection Commission in Ireland or the ICO in the UK.
